30 Days to CCENT – Day 32
Okay, tomorrow is my big day for my ICND1 Exam! And I really need to pass this time!
It is becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with my homework while also preparing myself for the ICND1. I have several things that I need to study tonight that I want to make sure I have a good understanding of before the exam.
I’m also going to practice writing out all of the subnets tonight so that I can do it really fast during the test. I don’t want to waste all of that time like I did last time.
Wish me luck everyone!
I’ll be sure to update you on how I did as soon as I’m finished with my test. Thanks everyone for your support and following me on my CCENT journey.
-Blake

Hey Blake,
The type of subneting queestions i’m studying for are like:
A Company wants 10-16 ip address, and 4 blocks of address?
Class A: 124.24.8.0
What is the range: 124.24.8.0- 124.24.8.15
124.24.8.16- 124.24.8.31
124.24.8-32-124.24.8.47
124.24.8.48-124.24.8.63
subnet mask: 255.240.0.0
Are these the type of questions i will see?
And do I what is 27/, 28,/29, 30 with subnet mask?
If you can give me a couple of sample questions that would help me greatly thanks!!!

Basically in general terms if you really know how to subnet it won’t matter what type of subnetting question they ask you because you will have practiced enough to know how to answer any type of subnetting question.
The /27, /28, /29, /30 determine how many host bits to borrow(the number of 1′s there are). There are 8 bits for each octet.
Class A address has a mask of /8 or 11111111.00000000.00000000.00000000 or 255.0.0.0
Class B address has a mask of /16 or 11111111.11111111.00000000.00000000 or 255.255.0.0
Class C address has a mask of /24 or 11111111.11111111.11111111.00000000 or 255.255.255.0
A further sebnetted class C could have:
/25 or 11111111.1111111.11111111.10000000 or 255.255.255.128
/26 or 11111111.1111111.11111111.11000000 or 255.255.255.192
/27 or 11111111.1111111.11111111.11100000 or 255.255.255.224
etc.
I think you are on the right track, just keep practicing!

The test is not the same if you retake it. So, you definitely need to be prepared the second time around. You never know what Cisco can surprise you with.
